India needs US for the following purposes
1.Access to high-technology
2.Our IT sector virtually depends upon American corporations
3.US defence equipment
4.To pressurise Pakistan on terrorism
5.To use US influence around the world to our advantage
6.Trade & Access to multi-national forums
Apart from these indeed there are thousands of many other compelling reasons for India US partnership.They have got the tech & we have got the manpower.It's a win win situation for India & US to co-operate together.Particularly,India can shore up it's defences with the US technology.India has already got C-130 J Super Hercules,P8 Poseidon & Boeing has just won two helicopter contracts beating Russia.India can get quality advantage over it's enemies(Enough with the Russian tech).The US has helped us notably in the extradition of 26\11 terrorist Abu Jundal by pressuring the Saudi authorities.US has already helped us in many multi-national forums & will continue to do so.We can import shale oil & gas from the US.America can be a partner in our fight against terrorism.We can counter China in many ways.India will get more diplomatic muscle by partnering with US.
Obama may have not given us the importance as Bush did,but it is necessary for us to carry this relationship to new level.We can partner with NATO & NASA and increase our technological might.India already has a strong relationship with Japan,a key US ally.We can create our own silicon valley with US help.As our interests converge ,we are sure to benefit in close partnership with US &it's going to happen in the future for sure.For more information like these subscribe to my blog for email updates.

Agreed. We want India on our side. We built China, and now we're sorry we built them so strong. Now, we need to build India in the same way. Hopefully, it won't come back to bite us in the ass.
